What to Expect when you visit

Acapella Singing

We use songbooks that are numerically ordered and would love to hear your wonderful voice in our assembly. We sing without the aid of instruments.

Scripture Based Teaching

Our minister, Mr. Heath Hensley, prepares the congregation three lessons from the Bible every week so that we can grow in our faith together.

The Lord’s Supper

This is a weekly celebration of what God did for us through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

What to Expect when you visit

What do people wear?

Some people choose to dress business casual, others choose not to dress up at all. Whatever you wear, you will be welcomed with open arms.

How long is service?

Most Bible study sessions last between 45-60 minutes and our Sunday AM service normally lasts between 50-75 minutes.

What if my baby is fussy?

We love to hear babies in the building, a church with children is a live one. If you feel the need, we have a nursery where you can take care of your child in a more private space.

What do we believe?

Love is the most powerful thing

7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. . . . 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13)

We are an independent church.

The church of Christ has no central governing body, every congregation reads the Bible and decides what their doctrine will be. Every Christian is part of the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 “12 There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ.” and , “that there be no divisions among you,. . . Is Christ divided?” 1 Corinthians 1:10,13

We take the Lord’s supper every Sunday

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)

Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. (Acts 20:7)

What do we believe?

Acapella Singing

The New Testament does not explicitly state that using instruments is wrong. Our goal is to please God and not add or take away from His commands (Revelation 22:18-19). In order to do that, our congregation has determined we will not use instruments in our worship. (Ephesians 5:19)

Baptism

13 We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. And so we are formed into one body. . . 1 Corinthians 12:13

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. John 3:5

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3-4

The Bible determines our theology

The Bible is the divine word of God delivered from God’s mouth through the prophets writings, Jesus’s teachings, and the apostles letters. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.. . . The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1,14

What do we believe?

Jesus is the Son of God

(Jesus is speaking) “do you say about the one whom the Father set apart and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? John 10:36

Baptism Continued

Baptiso is the greek word originally used. It directly means “to be submerged”. A great example of baptism is the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch. (Acts 8: 26-40) He was studying an old testament book and Phillip explained the passage and told him about Jesus. The Eunuch immediately knew he need to be baptized and when they passed some water they went down into it and he was baptized. Knowing this is why we baptize people who are of age to make this wonderful decision.

The Bible determines our theology (Continued)

Reading all of John chapter 1, it is clear the Bible or the Word is Jesus. It cannot be wrong, because it is Jesus, God’s Son. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. . .” 2 Timothy 3:16 This is why we take all of our theology or doctrine straight from the Bible.

Are we part of the LDS?

No, often times when you search the Church of Christ it pops up the Church of Latter Day Saints but we have no affiliation with that organization. We choose to call ourselves the Church of Christ because Romans 16:16 says, “Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings.”
